Aboriginal Engagement and Reconciliation Grants

The Aboriginal Engagement and Reconciliation Grants are open until 19 August 2024.

The Aboriginal Engagement and Reconciliation Grants supports initiatives that engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This grant category aligns with the City’s Reconciliation Strategy 2024-2028. Its purpose is to provide greater opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within the Canning community and to strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-indigenous peoples. The grant supports:

  • Initiatives that engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to deliver positive individual and community outcomes.
  • Initiatives celebrating NAIDOC Week and/or engaging in Reconciliation Week.
  • Delivery of reconciliation actions within the Canning community

Successful applicants will be required to meet or liaise with the City’s Aboriginal Engagement Officer prior to commencing their project.

Information for applications

  • The maximum grant available is $5,000.
  • The grant has two funding rounds:
    • Round One – closes 19 August 2024
    • Round Two – closes 4 March 2025
  • Open to incorporated community organisations, sporting clubs and schools*. (*see eligibility of schools within the Community Grant Program guidelines, page four).
  • Applicants will be notified approximately six weeks after the closing date. Please ensure your activity timeline takes this into account.
  • Applicants are eligible to apply once to this grant in 2024/2025.
