CCWA Citizen Science Bat Surveys

CCWA Citizen Science Bat Surveys

Join us in testing bat survey methodology in the Canning River Regional Park, and be part of bat conservation and research efforts.

During summer the Conservation Council of WA's Citizen Science program carried out a bat pilot study. Volunteers used bat detectors to record the different species of bats and their behaviours at different sites across Perth and the southwest. Following on from the pilot, we're testing out some bat survey changes at the Canning River Regional Park in preparation for our summer bat surveys.

What to expect

  • 30-minute talk about bats, the program and some of our bat survey results.
  • 30-minutes workshop on using the detectors and completing the bat survey.
  • 1.5-hour bat walk survey in the Canning River Regional Park.

Suitable for adults and teens 14+.
