Celebrating diversity at Canning’s Global Streets festival

The City of Canning is excited to announce the return of its vibrant cultural celebration, Global Streets, taking place at Hillview Park and the Hillview Intercultural Centre in Bentley on Saturday 12 April.

From 4pm to 8pm, Hillview Park will be transformed into a dynamic festival showcasing the rich cultural diversity of Canning.

This family-friendly event invites residents and visitors to immerse themselves in a global cultural experience. Attendees can indulge in a variety of international cuisines from a range of food trucks offering vegetarian, halal, and gluten-free options, as well as participate in a range of activities and cultural demonstrations.

The event will also feature live performances on stage, along with a kid’s zone complete with henna, craft activities, basketball and games.

Additionally, local cultural community groups will have the opportunity to share their traditions and customs, creating a truly interactive experience for all.

Mayor Patrick Hall said he is looking forward to this fantastic community event.

“Global Streets is the perfect chance to come together, taste new flavours, discover different customs, and celebrate the unique cultural fabric that makes Canning such a vibrant community.

“As the most culturally diverse Local Government in the Perth Metro area, with 50.9% of residents living in the City born overseas, Global Streets truly celebrates our people.

“This year we are looking forward to seeing even more of the community come along to enjoy the festivities of this cultural extravaganza,” Mayor Hall said.

Patrons are encouraged to bring their own keep cups and reusable waters bottles. This is a dog friendly event, however dogs must be kept on a lead.

As there is limited onsite parking, people are encouraged to carpool, take public transport, walk, or ride a bike where possible. Free bike racks will be available for those considering riding down.
