It’s time for some muddy good fun!

The City of Canning invites kids and families to enjoy some muddy good fun at this year’s Muddy Hands Festival on Saturday 23 November, from 10am – 3pm.

From 10am – 3pm kids of all ages are encouraged to come down to Kent Street Weir in Wilson, to unplug, get muddy, and enjoy being amongst nature.

This year’s free, non-ticketed event will feature some fantastic muddy experiences including the mudster chef kitchens, as well as two mud pits, one for the big kids and one for the littlies.

There’ll also be plenty to do for those who don’t want to get muddy, including nature crafts, browsing the nature stalls, and enjoying highly entertaining stage performances from Captain Cleanup, the Eco Faeries, Ranger Reds Zoo, Eco Action and more.

City of Canning Mayor Patrick Hall said this event is a highlight on the City’s Mayor Events calendar.

“Muddy Hands provides a safe and inclusive space for our greatly diverse range of families in Canning, allowing them to come together and enjoy a fun day out whilst gaining a greater appreciation of our natural environment.

“Last year’s event was a huge success with around 3000 attendees, this year we are hoping to see even more of the community enjoying the muddy fun.

“The fun is not limited to the kids, adults are welcome to get involved in the mud activities with their kids, but make sure you bring a change of clothes as things will get muddy,” Mayor Hall encourages.

Attendees can also bring a rug and picnic food, or there will be food trucks, along with Canning River Café offering food and refreshments for purchase.

There will be limited free onsite parking and people are encouraged to carpool or take public transport.

This smoke-free event will feature reusable serve-ware and community members are encouraged to bring their reusable drink bottles and coffee cup as the event is low waste.

This year’s Muddy Hands festival was supported thanks to a grant from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA).
