Keeping homes safe and helping residents save in the City of Canning
14 August 2024

The City of Canning is proud to announce the continuation of the ‘Be Safe and Save’ Security Incentive Scheme.

Back by popular demand, the Scheme is now in its fifth year of assisting residents to improve the level of security within and around their home. Offering rebates on a range of security items including CCTV, alarm systems, security screens, locks, and sensor lights.

Over the last six rounds, the Scheme has incentivised a community expenditure of over $1.47 million on home security items within the City of Canning.

Mayor Patrick Hall also highlighted the importance of the scheme in maintaining community safety.

“Ensuring the safety and security of our residents is a top priority. This enhanced rebate scheme is designed to provide greater support to those looking to improve their home security. We aim to make the Scheme accessible for everyone, especially our senior citizens and concession card holders.”

He continued, “Our residents deserve to feel safe in their homes. I strongly encourage all eligible residents to take advantage of this opportunity to help us prevent crime in the City of Canning by tightening their home security.”

Riverton resident Brenda positively shares her experience with the City’s Security Incentive Scheme.

“The City of Canning Security Incentive Scheme gives residents a wonderful opportunity to make improvements in their home security. I used the Scheme to re-evaluate my home and add more CCTV cameras to my system, giving better coverage.”

Claiming my rebate was straightforward and fast. I would highly recommend residents utilise this grant and save money!” she said.

Security Incentive Scheme applications are open from now until June 30, 2025. Applicants are advised that rebates are subjected to availability, and funds could be exhausted before this date.

Residents must submit their application and invoices following the purchase of eligible security products. Terms and conditions, along with the application form, can be found on the City of Canning’s website at canning.wa.gov.au/saferhomes.
