Mid Week Eats serves up a mid-week treat
02 February 2024

The City of Canning’s Mid Week Eats is serving up a mid-week treat with the epic food truck series back Thursday nights in February from 4.30pm – 8.30pm.

Mid Week Eats will be spread across four consecutive Thursday nights, 8, 15 22 and 29 February. Due to last year’s popularity, the event has moved to a new larger section of Riverton Reserve, Riverton Reserve West next to Laurel Close.

Each evening will highlight a different food experience including Asian Fusion, Island Love Boat, BBQ Disco and Hot Mess Express. Residents are urged to come along and take their senses on a journey across the world.

There will also be fun for the whole family including a range of sporting and craft activities for the littlies, roving stilt walkers, live music and fantastic cultural performances from local performers such as the Chung Wah Association Inc.

Asian Fusion will be first up on 8 February and will celebrate the Lunar New Year with a diverse range of food and entertainment from Eastern, Southern and South-Eastern Asia.

Mayor Patrick Hall said he is looking forward to the return of Mid Week Eats and hopes to see even more of the community at this great series of events.

“Mid-Week Eats is the perfect opportunity to take the night off cooking and relax with friends and family whilst enjoying some fantastic food and wonderful entertainment.

“Last year we had great attendance at all four of the events and this year we hope to see more of our residents coming together to celebrate the diversity of our vibrant Canning community,” said Mayor Hall.

Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket or get in early to secure a picnic table or beanbag, then sit back, relax and enjoy a balmy summer night under the stars. This is a dog friendly event, however dogs must be on a lead.

This year the event has moved slightly to the west of Riverton Reserve next to Laurel Close, however normal parking will be available at the Riverton Leisureplex facility with a small overflow parking section available.

As parking is limited, residents are encouraged to carpool or take public transport, or walk or ride a bike where possible. Free bike racks will be available for those considering riding down.
