Whaleback Range Netting receives a lift

Whaleback Golf Course, one of the most popular golfing facilities in Perth’s southern corridor, will this week begin the process of installing impressive new netting around its driving range, with the City of Canning Council approving a tender from Country Club International to complete the works.
The cost of the new netting will be funded from Whaleback’s golf operations revenue streams.
The popular two-storey driving range, which features Toptracer technology, welcomes approximately 100,000 customers annually, with over 8.5 million balls hit on the range each year.
“The eagerly anticipated construction of the driving range netting at Whaleback Golf Course will significantly improve patron safety on the 9th and 14th holes and provide operational efficiencies,” said City of Canning Mayor Patrick Hall. “At over 36 metres high in areas, this will be some of the highest driving range netting in Perth.”
Construction of the new netting is expected to be completed in May 2025. While there will be some disruption, the range will remain open to customers for the majority of this time.
